Installation

L’Éternel Retour explores the origin of life and our deep connection to the evolution of species. The work reminds us that our story does not begin at birth: it is part of a biological continuity carried by DNA, a living memory that each generation rewrites.

During embryonic development, cells organise themselves and communicate autonomously, following genetic information. All vertebrate embryos pass through a common stage, evidence of a shared evolutionary origin.

Details

The installation has two complementary parts:

  • A visual installation using a liquid mirror of ferrofluids whose surface, set in motion by magnetic fields, creates shadows, vibrations and waves of light evoking cellular time and the processes of the living.
  • A sound installation made of four acoustic instruments that play the tree of life and the evolution of species as a musical score, making audible the long, geological time of evolution.

Together they offer a sensitive reflection on the links between genetic memory, embryonic development and the evolutionary history of the living
